Changelog

What's new in Datify

Changes you can see in the app, its emails and this website, newest first. The list starts on October 9, 2026.

October 2026

  1. Error messages after a failed button press are in plain words

When something fails after you press a button in Datify, such as starting a bulk run, accepting suggestions or changing a schedule or usage limit, the red message now says what went wrong in plain words instead of database or code text. A categorization run on a store with nothing left to categorize now finishes as a normal empty run instead of showing an error.

  2. Reinstalling Datify now starts you fresh

If you uninstall Datify and install it again, you now get a clean start: a new AI Discoverability Score, the setup guide from the beginning, and no old suggestions or saved settings. Your products and anything already saved to Shopify are not touched, and your billing and usage limit carry over.

  3. The Save bar now shows when you change a tag or product type migration

On the tag and product type migration pages, the Unsaved changes bar with Save and Discard could fail to appear after you changed something. It now shows right away, and goes away after you save, discard or reload.

  4. New stores get one email on day 3 with their next step

A few days after you install Datify, you now get one email that names the goal on Home with the most room to improve and links straight to the tool for it. It is sent once to the store owner, and its Unsubscribe link turns off only this email, not your monthly report.

  5. Product type migrator now warns about categories the metafield is not assigned to

When you pick a metafield for a product type, Datify now lists the product categories that metafield is not assigned to, and any products with no category, before you migrate. Use Update assignment to fix a category in one click, so the migration no longer fails with an owner subtype error.

  6. Peer comparison now needs at least 10 similar stores

The score page, Home, your monthly email and the Datify tools in Shopify Sidekick only compare your score with similar stores when at least 10 of them are in the group. With fewer, the peer average, the percentile and the Peer Avg markers are hidden, so you never see a single store's score as an average.

  7. Category manager no longer jumps while it loads

Your categories could jump down while the Category manager loaded, by a whole screen on a phone, because the tutorial video and the last run's result appeared above them after the page was drawn. They now show together with the page, and the Contact support link at the bottom waits until your categories are in, so it no longer gets pushed down. Migrate product types works the same way.

  8. The score no longer gets stuck on Analyzing after a reinstall

If you uninstalled Datify while your score was calculating and installed it again, Home could stay on Analyzing your catalog with no way out. The score now starts again by itself after a reinstall, and a calculation that Shopify has lost restarts on its own.

  9. Home shows how much each goal could raise your score

Each Improve your score card now says how many percent your score could rise by if every product were complete for that goal, worked out from your own score. Goals that could add less than 2% are left without a number.

  10. Home shows which tools are running

When an AI run, a migration or a save to Shopify is going, a Running now card at the top of Home shows the tool, how far along it is and a button to open it. You can leave the page and come back to check.

  11. Error messages stay on screen until you deal with them

When a save, a run or an accept fails, a red message now stays at the top of the page until you close it or try again, instead of a short message that disappears after a few seconds. Your unsaved changes and the save bar stay, so you can try again or discard. You can now also clear the last notification email on the Alerts page.

  12. Easier to use with a keyboard or screen reader

Icon buttons and links on Category manager and Product type manager now have names a screen reader can read. After you open a page from a link, the keyboard focus moves to the top of that page. Settings keeps the focus on a switch after it saves, and the Product type manager lists stack on narrow screens.

  13. Tag and product type migrators now move the same products the page counts

The tag to category and product type to category migrations now use the same product scope as the Products being updated count on the page. Archived products are left out unless you include them in the status filter, and a tag migration leaves out products that carry an excluded longer tag. When existing metafield values cannot be checked, the card now tells you why instead of showing nothing.

  14. Double-clicking no longer creates or deletes twice

Double-clicking Create schedule no longer creates two identical schedules, and double-clicking Delete schedule or Cancel subscription no longer sends the request twice. Only the first click counts, and the button works again if the request fails so you can retry.

  15. Category manager says when it cannot load

If your categories cannot load, the Category manager now says so and offers Try again, instead of saying none of your products have a category. The page also no longer jumps while it loads.

  16. Category metafields stays still while your categories are counted

The banners on the Category metafields page now keep their space while your categories are counted and checked, so the list no longer jumps. If your categories cannot load, the page says so and offers Try again, and if adding recommended metafields fails, the message now says it failed.

  17. Bulk category editor offers every category

The category list in the Bulk category editor now offers every Shopify category unless your store is limited to a list, so any store can pick a category. If the list cannot load, the page says so and offers Try again.

  18. Bulk category editor saves your changes

Saving in the Bulk category editor works again. A category picked from the list shows its name and saves, categories that share a name show their parent so the one you picked is saved, and Discard puts the rows back. A row with a blank or unknown category is marked so you can fix it before saving.

  19. Analytics date picker and a few buttons fit on a phone

On a phone, the Analytics date range picker keeps Apply and Cancel in view and tappable, and a few buttons and banners no longer run off the edge of the screen.

  20. Home no longer jumps while it loads

Home now shows a short spinner and then the whole page in its final order, so banners and cards no longer push the page down as they load. While your score loads, its card already has its final size.

  21. Finishing the setup guide no longer asks for a review

When you dismiss the setup guide, Datify no longer opens the Shopify review window. We now ask only after you have used the app for real work, such as accepting suggestions in bulk.

  22. Tell us how an AI run went

After an AI alt text or AI catalog content run saves to Shopify with no problems, a short note near the top of the page asks how it went. Choose Looks good, Not now, or Something's off to send us a message about the run. It shows at most once a month per tool and never blocks your work.

  23. Choose whether AI categories also cover products set to Uncategorized

AI category runs now have a checkbox, Include products categorized as Uncategorized, on the AI Bulk Category Assignment page and in scheduled categorizations. It starts ticked, as runs always behaved. Untick it to run only on products with no category and leave products set to Uncategorized alone.

  24. Failed run banners no longer show technical text

When a bulk run of product types, metafields or categories stops because of a problem on our side, the red banner now says so in plain words instead of showing database or code text. Scheduled categorizations that pause after an error get the same plain message.

  25. Finished run banners now say when the run finished

The green completed banner on pages like Category collections, Product type migrator, Tag migrator and Assign bulk metafields now shows the date and time the run finished, so an old banner is not mistaken for a new one.

  26. The row for products with no category has a clearer name

On Manage categories the row for products without a category now reads Products with no category instead of No set category, so it is no longer confused with the Uncategorized category. Its tooltip also says the count follows the product statuses you selected.

  27. Home tells you to press Save after switching on the structured data embed

When the structured data embed is off, the storefront card and the warning banner now say to switch it on in the theme editor and press Save. Before, the change could look done when it had not been saved.

  28. Saving your allowed product types no longer leaves a warning behind

After you saved the list in Product Type Manager, the page hit an error and could still ask whether you wanted to leave with unsaved changes. Saving now refreshes the invalid product types list and leaves the page clean.

  29. Valid product type is no longer part of your score

Your AI discoverability score no longer counts whether each product type is on your managed allowed list. That was a Datify housekeeping check, not something AI shoppers see. Your score now has 15 checks and may go up a little. Product types are still checked for being filled in.

  30. Approve one monthly limit for AI runs instead of every run

Instead of approving a Shopify charge for each AI run, you approve one monthly usage limit in Shopify. The suggested limit comes from your catalog size: 5 cents per product, rounded up to the next $5, with a $10 minimum. A paid run starts without a Shopify step when its cost, after your free credits, fits in what is left. It is billed once when the run finishes, for the items it processed, and nothing is billed above your limit. The $0.50 minimum charge is gone, and every tool shows "Estimated cost". You can raise or cancel the limit from the Pricing page.

  31. Weekly alt text keeps new images covered

The Image alt text page has a Weekly alt text card. Switch it on and Datify writes alt text for new images every week, or use Run now. Weekly runs are billed through your monthly usage limit at 3 cents per image written. Flagged suggestions, excluded images, failed writes and stopped runs are free. The card shows the next run, how much of your limit is used and what each run wrote and cost. Manual alt text runs now cost 3 cents per image too.

  32. AI runs are billed only for what was saved

Category and product type runs are now billed only for suggestions that were saved, and a run that produced nothing ends in an error and is not billed. Raw error text no longer shows on the AI pages.

  33. The product count on AI pages says what it counts

The usage banner on the AI pages could show a higher product count than other pages, because those hide archived products. It now says the count is the total, counting products of every status.

  34. The setup guide says finished only when the work is done

Tasks you tick by hand still fill the progress bar, but the guide then asks you to recalculate your score instead of saying you are finished. The finished message, the review request and the finished email wait until Datify confirms the work: an accepted AI categories or metafields run, or the structured data embed turned on. The email goes out once. The categorize task now checks itself when every product already has a category. The structured data task has no Mark as done button, because it checks itself from your theme.

  35. Resetting the setup guide asks first

Reset setup guide now asks "Reset the setup guide?" before it clears anything. Choose Keep my progress, or press Escape, to leave everything as it is.

  36. The score card says how long your first score takes

While your score is calculating, the card says how long it takes for your catalog size (under a minute for 40 products, about 2 minutes for 7,388) and that you can leave. On your first score it says we will email it when it is ready. Clicking Calculate Score now switches to the progress view at once.

  37. Home goal cards match your score

The Fill in product details card no longer says "Calculate your score" after your score has been calculated. With no category metafields set up it says so, a goal with nothing to score says why, and while the score loads or calculates the cards say "Loading your score..." or "Calculating your score...".

  38. Products with no category are counted as having none

Shopify's Uncategorized placeholder was counted as a real category, so the score and Home could say every product had a category when none did. It now counts as no category in your score, on Home, in Sidekick answers and in chat, and AI categorization only suggests real categories.

  39. Bulk category editor is linked from the Category manager

A Bulk category editor button now sits next to Run configuration in the Category manager title bar. The editor shows a Category manager link back, even after a reload.

  40. Product status filters are saved and used everywhere

The status filter (active, draft, archived) in the Tag migrator, the Product type migrator and manager, and the Category manager is saved with your setup and used for counts and product lookups. The bulk editor links open Shopify's editor with the same statuses, a saved filter is still there after a reload, and changing it quickly no longer shows an error.

  41. Schedules skip archived products when archived products are off

A scheduled categorization that had Archived selected kept running on, and billing for, archived products after you turned archived products off. It now ignores Archived while that setting is off, and the schedule history says why nothing ran. Auto accept also only accepts the suggestions from its own run, not older ones waiting for review.

  42. Ask Shopify Sidekick about Datify

Home, the setup guide and the AI Discoverability Score page now show an example question that names Datify, with a Copy prompt button you can paste into Shopify's Sidekick. Sidekick also knows Datify's setup steps and links to the right pages.

  43. Screen readers announce the Sidekick panel and setup checkboxes

The Ask Sidekick row on Home says whether it is open or closed, and each setup guide checkbox has a name. Clicking a checkbox twice quickly now ends where it started.

  44. Analytics says when data could not be loaded

When the AI traffic calls fail, the traffic, top sources and conversions cards now say the data could not be loaded and suggest changing the date range or reloading, instead of showing "No AI traffic found".

  45. The monthly report shows AI shopping channels

The monthly report email has an AI Shopping Channels table for each store: sessions with the change from last month, orders and sales for channels such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Shop. Channels with no sessions or orders are left out. One report email now holds up to 9 stores, and merchants with more get the rest in a second email.

  46. A smaller support button on phones

On a phone the support button shows only its round icon, so it covers less of the page. Tapping it still opens support.

  47. Datify opens right after install without errors or a reload

Right after installing, Datify used to show failed requests and reload itself before Home appeared. It now signs in on the first request, so Home loads straight away.

  48. The AI Readiness Study shows how few stores have each product fact

Every figure on the study page now reads as "only X% of stores have this". A new chart lines up 15 checks from 0 to 100% and can be sliced by traffic group or by any of 30 themes.

    Open the study
  49. Free store check on datify-app.com

Enter any store address on datify-app.com to see its AI readiness grade and the product details an AI shopping assistant gets from that store. No sign-up.

Open the check on the home page
  50. A new Home page that starts with a setup guide

Home now opens with a setup checklist and progress bar, your score and AI shoppers side by side, and "Improve your score" cards grouped by goal. The goal with the lowest score gets the main button.

  51. Recalculate your score from Home

The score card on Home has a Recalculate button. The "Your catalog has changed" prompt now shows up when products change, which it was not doing before, and edits made while a calculation runs are no longer missed.

  52. AI shoppers analytics compare against the previous period

Each figure shows its change since the previous period. The page also has a trend line, a list of the pages on your store that AI shoppers land on and a one-line summary.

  53. The AI shoppers page loads again

The AI shoppers page could fail to show its figures. It loads again, and shows a plain message if Shopify cannot return the data.

  54. The structured data check reads your live product pages

The structured data part of your score (the product details search engines and AI assistants read from your pages) now opens up to 5 of your published product pages. It checks that each shows its name, description, image, brand, price, stock status, SKU, barcode and filled category metafields, and tells you what a page is missing. Stores with a password-protected storefront are checked too.

  55. Alt text for every image in Files, with better descriptions

The AI alt text tool can now write alt text for images used in products, images used in themes, unused images or all images on the Files page. Images are analyzed at higher detail, so lettering and logos are described. Descriptions can be up to Shopify's 512 characters and are never cut in the middle of a quote.

  56. Category update emails only mention your categories

When Shopify changes its product categories, you now get a short email about only the categories your products are in, grouped when they share a change.

  57. Gmail shows an Unsubscribe button on Datify emails

Score and category update emails now support one-click unsubscribe, so Gmail shows its own Unsubscribe button. Datify emails are now sent from datify@jadepuma.com.

  58. Smoother loading inside Shopify admin

Datify pages inside Shopify admin now appear sooner because the support chat loads after the page. Saving a category setup also no longer fails when your browser blocks site storage.

  59. Category metafields handles stores with thousands of categories

Categories are listed A to Z by top-level category in pages of 50. In stores with more than 200 categories, product counts load only for the page on screen, and Check all categories shows progress and can be stopped.

  60. Opening Fill product details no longer turns on recommended metafields

Recommended metafield definitions are added only when you start a run, and only for the categories in that run. The completion banner now says how many products were categorized and how many are waiting for review. Scheduled categorization and Run now also stopped failing with an error about the store's product count.

  61. Alt text that is only a file name counts as missing

An image whose alt text is a file name such as IMG_1234.jpg is now counted as missing in the Image alt text set check, the same as a blank one.

  62. AI alt text for product images

A new tool writes alt text for your product images with AI. You see the exact image count and cost first, then review, edit and accept each description or accept them in bulk. It uses the same free credits as the other AI tools.

  63. Emails go to the store owner and name the shop

Score, monthly report, welcome and usage limit emails now go to the Shopify account owner instead of whichever staff member installed the app. The score and monthly emails name the shop in the subject.
